Makhana Kheer Recipe :- Navratri Fasting Special

Makhana(FoxNut) one of the most healthy fasting dish used specially in fasting season like Navratri & Ganesh Chaturthi.

You can use makhana in your fasting in several ways.Here i am gonna represent the delicious dessert i.e makhana kheer in few easy steps.

Prep Time:- 30 Min

Ingredients:-


  • Makhana
  • organic Milk
  • Sugar
  • Cardamom Powder
  • Dry Fruits(cashew-nuts, almonds,raisins)
  • Ghee
  • Saffron(optional)

Kheer Recipe:-


  1. Heat ghee in a pan,add 1 cup makhana and 8-10 cashews.
  2. Roast till makhana became crunchy and cashew became golden on low flame.You can also roast almond here if you want.Now keep them aside.
  3. Add organic milk just double in quantity of makhana in a thick bottom Pan.
  4. Keep stirring time to time so that milk doesn't scorch in bottom.
  5. In between keep 1/4 makhana as it is and grind rest of the makhana in a grinder.
  6. You can also grind cashew & almond along with makhana, if you don't want to use it whole.
  7. Once milk comes to boil add sugar as per your taste.
  8. Now add cardamom powder,saffron and stir well for a min.
  9. In next step add grinded makhana powder and stir for one more min.
  10. The add reserved 1/4 makhana and strir very well.
  11. Keep stirring till the makhana became soften on low to medium flame around 10 mins.
  12. Also remove evaporated milk from the sides and add it to the milk.
  13. Now in this step you can add golden roasted cashew & almond if you didn't grind them along with makhana in above step.Add raisin too.
  14. Stir and simmer for few more mins.
  15. Switch off the flame,your kheer is ready.
  16. Serve Makhana kheer either warm or chilled.
